Turn your passion into a personalized learning path at Randolph-Macon College.

RMC’s cybersecurity curriculum is based on nationally recognized standards and organized around four core areas: data security, network security, computer security, and security policy. Together, they give you a strong foundation in what the field demands.

You’ll put that knowledge to work through internships and senior capstone research. If research is a passion, you can even seek Schapiro Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) support for a summer project with a faculty mentor, like one recent grad who tested the vulnerability of smart-home security devices through multiple simulated network attacks.

Cybersecurity for an AI future

The field is changing fast, and you’ll need to learn enduring skills that can help you be ready for the changes. In RMC’s cybersecurity labs, you’ll practice ethical hacking in a safe environment using the same kinds of security-testing tools employed by cybersecurity professionals. And you’ll wrestle with the ethical questions AI presents. You’ll dig into malware, penetration testing, intrusion detection, cryptography, and system recovery, and learn to explain the risks and the solutions.

And you’ll learn outside the major too. The unique skills that come from being a cybersecurity major in a wide-ranging liberal arts curriculum will be critical to navigating a changing world.
